Chamber Honors ‘Top 10 of the Next Gen’

Ten Fredericksburg-area professionals under age 40 will be honored December 2 as the “Top 10 of the Next Gen.” The fourth annual awards event is hosted by the Next Generation of Business Leaders (NextGen), a group within the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce.

The ten honorees were selected by the NextGen board from 25 community-wide nominations, said Bill Freehling, assistant director of the Fredericksburg Economic Development and Tourism Department and a NextGen board member. Selection is based on professional success and community contributions. Winners don’t have to be Chamber members, Freehling said.

The 2014 Top 10 of the Next Gen winners are:

John Fricchione Jr., co-owner of J&J Tile and Marble Inc.
 Alisha Henley, executive director at Open Hand of Fredericksburg.
 Paul Janney, Long & Foster realtor, real estate investor and president of the Board of Directors at Rappahannock Big Brothers Big Sisters.
 Kim Lewis, program director at BCI Inc., a government contractor in King George County.
 Laura McKinnon, commercial loan officer at Community Bank of the Chesapeake and current Leadership Fredericksburg fellow.
 Nina Parrish, owner of Parrish Learning Zone and volunteer with the Fredericksburg Area Service League.
 Sarah Perry, director of Downtown Greens and founder of Living Soil, 2014 Made in FredVA finalist.
 Christopher Toepp, personal injury attorney with Allen, Allen, Allen & Allen.
 Jon Van Zandt, owner of Van Zandt Restorations, member of the Fredericksburg Architectural Review Board and former NextGen board member.
 Tim Welsh, owner of Rappahannock Construction Co.

The awards event begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Fredericksburg Area Museum and Cultural Center, 1001 Princess Anne St. Costs is $10 for NextGen members, $15 for Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce members and $20 for the general public. Registration is available online.
