Fourth of July in Fredericksburg

Fredericksburg will host its annual Heritage Festival on Friday, July 4, 2014.  The 600, 700 and 800 blocks of Sophia Street, the 100 block of Charlotte Street and the 100 block of Hanover Street will be closed to all traffic from 5 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Following is the schedule of activities.

7:45 a.m. –  Heritage Festival Five-Mile Run
Packet pick-up opens at 6:30 a.m. at the Fredericksburg Visitor Center, 706 Caroline St.  The race begins nearby.
Online registration is $25 through July 3.  Onsite registration is $30.

9:30 a.m. – Heritage Day Parade
Downtown from Lafayette to Caroline to Princess Anne to Lafayette.  Prizes will be awarded for for the best costume and the most creative bicycle.

10 a.m. – 4 p.m. – Festival of the Streets
Downtown streets will be closed to traffic for a classic car display, craft show, live music, “Dunk Your Favorite Local Celebrity,” face painting and children’s activities.

10 a.m. – 5 p.m. The Fourth of July at Ferry Farm
Admission is $1 per person, age 2 and under free. Park at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 21 Cool Springs Rd. and take the free shuttle. Or ride the free trolley from Caroline and Charlotte Streets in downtown Fredericksburg.

11:30 a.m. Rappahannock River Raft Race
Begins at Falmouth Waterfront Park, 401 River Rd. and ends at City Dock

12 p.m. – Presentation of Colors and Welcome

4:30 p.m. – Pratt Park Opens for the July 4th Spectacular
Bring lawn chairs and picnic dinners to Pratt Park, 120 River Rd. Food vendors will be available.

6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. – Quantico Marine Corps Rock and Roll Band at Pratt Park

8 p.m. – Quantico Marine Corps Band with Patrick A’Hearn and the cast from West Side Story, Riverside Theater, will perform before and during the fireworks at Pratt Park.

9:15 p.m. – Fireworks at Pratt Park
View fireworks from Pratt Park or Old Mill Park, 2410 Caroline St. No alcoholic beverages, sparklers or grills allowed.  Dogs must be on a leash.
