The National Park Service will host the 19th annual Fredericksburg National Cemetery Luminary on Saturday, May 24, 2014.
A luminary will be lit for each of the 15,300 soldiers buried there.
The Fredericksburg National Cemetery Luminary is open to the public 8 p.m. – 11 p.m. In the event of rain, the event will be held on Sunday, May 25.
This year’s ceremony is part of a national observance called Reverberations. “Three national parks in Virginia – Fredericksburg & Spotsylvania National Military Park, Richmond National Battlefield Park, and Petersburg National Battlefield – will send park rangers to sister communities to join in commemorative programs and presentations throughout the day,” the National Park Service said in a press release.
That evening, they will participate in candlelight illuminations. At 9 p.m. eastern time Taps will be played at the sites, which in 1864 were deeply wounded by the Overland Campaign. These locations are:
	Richmond’s Cold Harbor
	Petersburg’s Poplar Grove National Cemetery
	Dearborn, Michigan
	Natchez, Mississippi
	Litchfield, Connecticut
	Charleston, South Carolina
	Camp Nelson, Nicholasville, Kentucky
	Bangor, Maine
	Wilmington, North Carolina
	Stockbridge/Munsee Indian Reservation, Wisconsin
Fredericksburg National Cemetery is located at the junction of Sunken Road and Lafayette Boulevard.  Pets are not permitted in the cemetery.
