Andre Liggans, 27, of Spotsylvania, was arrested March 4 and charged with felony breaking and entering, possession of burglary tools and larceny.

At approximately 5:15 a.m., Spotsylvania County Deputies responded  to a burglar alarm at the Gulf Station in the 5300 block of Jefferson Davis Hwy.  “Upon arrival, Deputy Coerper noted that the back door of the business was ajar,” said Capt. Jeff Pearce, spokesperson for the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation determined that entry had been made and that items had been taken from the store.

CID detectives processing the scene discovered evidence near the door of the business, where entry had been made, Pearce said.  A law enforcement K-9 team was called and a track ensued. The trail led to a nearby hotel, where a potential suspect was developed by additional investigation, Pearce said.

Detective Swift obtained a search warrant for the hotel room, where the possible suspect was staying. Upon searching the room, evidence of the break in was discovered. The suspect — Andre Liggans — was questioned, subsequently arrested and transported to the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
