The City of Fredericksburg has made more parking available for downtown visitors.

The city has leased a private parking lot for night and weekend public use. “This is the first agreement of this type in the city,” said City Manager Bev Cameron. “It’s an effective means to improve utilization of the parking inventory in downtown Fredericksburg.”

The lot is located behind 904 Princess Anne St. and is accessible from Princess Anne and Charles Streets. Parking is available there from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday, and all hours Saturday and Sunday.

Parking is $1 an hour. Payment is made through a “Pay on Foot Station,” located in the lot. Cash and credit cards are accepted, as well as some debit cards. The pay station offers prompts to register parking by numbered spaces. Credit card payers can set a cell phone reminder for
a time extension option.

Parking is free on Sundays from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The lot has 40 spaces, 30 directly behind 904 Princess Anne St. and an additional 10 spaces beyond the boundary wall, contiguous to the PNC bank parking area. There are signs indicating the public parking hours.

Vehicles parked in the lot outside the city leased times will be subject to fines or towing, Cameron said.
