Showers and scattered thunderstorms are predicted for the Fredericksburg area Wednesday Dec. 24, 2014. Locally heavy rainfall in the afternoon and evening could result in isolated flooding of low lying and poor drainage areas, the National Weather Service said.

Remember: “Turn around, don’t drown.”

New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch are possible during the day; between a quarter and half of an inch is possible overnight.

Wednesday’s high will be in the low 60s. The overnight low will be in the high 40s.

Christmas Day should be mostly sunny, with a high near 58.
