Hunter’s Island Hike
Saturday, April 11, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Friends of the Rappahannock (FOR), 3219 Fall Hill Ave., Fredericksburg
Explore the legacy of Hunter’s Island with its owner, local architect and history enthusiast Mary Ellen Wheeler. Meet at FOR’s office to ferry over to the island on canoes. Bring a bag lunch for a picnic. Minimum age is 8 years old.

River Jordan: Crossing to Freedom
Saturday, April 11, and Sunday, April 12, 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Ferry Farm, 268 Kings Hwy., Fredericksburg
A dramatic tpresentation at Historic Kenmore and George Washington’s Ferry Farm. Several scenes will be outside, rain or shine. Dress and shoes appropriate for outdoor walking are suggested. Participants will meet at Ferry Farm, travel by trolley with a historian to Kenmore for the first act, then return to Ferry Farm for the conclusion of the performance.
Admission: $12 adults, $6 ages 3-17; free ages 3 and under.

From the Rapp for the Rapp
Saturday, April 11, 1 – 4:30 p.m.
Marriott Ranch, 5305 Marriott Lane, Hume, Va.
Join Friends of the Rappahannock for oysters, local wine and beer, live music, fly tying, hay rides and more. Come at 9 a.m. and help plant trees for the Riparian stream restoration planting which will include tree planting and live staking on the upper Rappahannock and Fiery Run, a small tributary to the Rappahannock. Participants are then invited to join us for oysters, beer, wine, and other festivities free of charge as a thank you for helping.
Tickets online for $25, Children 14 and under are welcome free of charge.

Wild and Scenic Film Festival – Culpeper

Germanna Daniel Technology Center, 18121 Technology Dr., Culpeper.
Enjoy a broad spectrum of environmentally themed films about a wide range of causes and issues from across the globe. Includes a special showing of “Rappahannock,” the film produced by Friends of the Rappahannock showcasing the history, beauty and issues surrounding “Fredericksburg’s river.”
Festival ticket: $8.
