Tony Award winner Joe Mantegna and Emmy Award winner Gary Sinise will host the 26th annual National Memorial Day Concert on the West Lawn of the Capitol. The concert will feature performances by Gloria Estefan, “The Voice” winner Tessanne Chin, tenor Russell Watson and the National Symphony Orchestra, as well as U.S. military musicians such as the Soldiers’ Chorus, the Navy Band Sea Chanters and the U.S. Air Force Singing Sergeants. Gates open at 5 p.m. for the 8 p.m. free concert, which is also broadcast live on PBS stations.

“The President’s Own” U.S. Marine Band will perform their annual Summer Blast Off!—a Memorial Day weekend concert at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts’ Filene Center, 1551 Trap Rd., Vienna, Va. The evening of fun and patriotic music followed by a thrilling fireworks display is free and open to the public. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. and will close when the park reaches maximum capacity. The National Memorial Day Observance to honor America’s fallen military service members is held annually at Arlington National Cemetery. The U.S. Army Military District of Washington will conduct a Presidential Armed Forces Full Honor Wreath-Laying Ceremony at 11 a.m. at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. A program hosted by the Department of Defense in Arlington’s Memorial Amphitheater will follow the ceremony. A prelude by the United States Marine Band will begin in the amphitheater at 10:30 a.m. The event is free and open to the public. Visit the event website for parking and security details.

Pamplin Historical Park and the National Museum of the Civil War Soldier, 6125 Boydton Plank Rd., Petersburg. Va., is hosting a Memorial Day Commemoration, that will include an artillery demonstration, color bearers, a “Walk of Honor,” and the playing of Taps. The “Walk of Honor,” featuring soldier stories taken from their own letters, begins at 12 noon at the Battlefield Center. An artillery demonstration begins at 1 p.m., followed by Taps. These special events are free with park admission.

The National Memorial Day Parade will begin at 2 p.m. at the corner of Constitution Avenue and 7th Streets, N.W., proceed west down Constitution, past the White House, ending at 17th Street. World War II veterans will serve as the grand marshals.
