City of Fredericksburg
Fall Hill Avenue
(New) Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.; traffic will be reduced to a single lane intermittently for tree removal and brush clearing. Motorists will be directed through the work zone by flaggers. Expect brief delays when stops are needed. Work is expected to continue Monday through Friday through July 10. No lane closures will take place on Friday, July 3.
Fall Hill Avenue Widening and I-95 Overpass Replacement Project
Construction is underway on the Fall Hill Avenue widening and I-95 overpass replacement project. Motorists should expect lane closures and brief delays on Fall Hill Avenue between the Rappahannock Canal Bridge and Carl D. Silver Boulevard. The project is expected to be complete in January 2017.
Spotsylvania County
Interstate 95 North
Sunday – Thursday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m.; milling and paving work continues on I-95 north between Exit 126 (Route 1/Spotsylvania) and Exit 130 (Route 3/Fredericksburg). Motorists should expect single or double lane closures and travel delays in the work zone.
Holleybrooke Subdivision
(Update) Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.; crews will continue milling and paving on various streets located in the Holleybrooke subdivision. Motorists should expect brief delays and a rough driving surface in the work zone.
Routine Maintenance Activities
(Update) Monday- Friday, 6 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Crews will be performing routine maintenance that may cause brief travel delays at the following locations:
Route 3 (Plank Road) – mowing
Route 711 (Southpoint Parkway) – mowing
Route 673 (Piedmont Drive) – mowing and drainage work
Route 632 (Hickory Ridge Road) – mowing
Route 601 (Lawyers Road) – mowing
Route 738 (Partlow Road) – mowing
Route 1690 (Heather Green Circle) – drainage work
Route 1871 (Tupelo Drive) – drainage work
Route 1421 (Plantation Forest Drive) – drainage work
Holleybrook Subdivision – drainage work
Lanes Corner – surface treatment prep work
Construction Route 17/Benchmark Road/Crossroads Parkway
Motorists should expect lane closures and brief traffic stops on Route 17 at Benchmark Road and Crossroads Parkway, located just east of the CSX railroad tracks and west of Jim Morris Road. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone. This work is related to construction of a new Virginia Railway Express train station and parking lot. This project is being administered by Spotsylvania County.
Stafford County
Falmouth Intersection Improvement Project
Motorists should expect the following lane closures this week in connection with the Falmouth intersection improvement project. Flaggers and/or electronic signs will direct motorists through the work zone:
Route 1North
New) Monday – Thursday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m.; northbound motorists will be restricted to one lane on Route 1 just north of the Falmouth intersection. Crews will be replacing the pedestrian sidewalk in this area.
Route 218 (Butler Road)
(New) Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.; westbound motorists will be restricted to one lane on Butler Road near Route 1 while crews continue construction of the concrete island.
Carter Street
(New) On Monday crews will be performing curb and gutter work on Carter Street. Carter Street will be closed to traffic between Route 1 and Gordon Road from 9:30 a.m. until noon. Beginning at 12:30 p.m., Carter Street will be closed between Butler Road and Forbes Street. Work is expected to be complete by 2:30 p.m.
Route 606 (Ferry Road)
Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.; paving work continues on Route 606 (Ferry Road) between Route 3 (Kings Highway) and Route 218 (White Oak Road). Motorists will be restricted to one lane. Flaggers will direct traffic through the work zone. Expect delays.
Route 1 at Truslow Road
Work to construct new turn lanes at the Route 1/Route 652 (Truslow Road) intersection is underway. Motorists should be alert to construction crews and equipment in the area. Beginning Monday, June 28, left turns from Truslow Road onto Route 1 north will be restricted Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for approximately two weeks.

Route 1220 (Oak Grove Lane) – ditch repair
Route 1784 (Tamerlane Drive) – shoulder repair
Construction
Route 17
Construction is underway to widen Route 17 from four to six lanes between McLane Drive and Stafford Lakes Parkway, a distance of nearly 2 miles. The work zone extends from just south of the I-95 interchange to Cardinal Forest Drive. Motorists should be alert to changes in traffic pattern and periodic overnight lane closures. Project completion date is December 2016.
Falmouth Intersection (Route 1/Route 17 Business/Route 218)
Construction is underway. Motorists should be prepared for brief delays and periodic lane closures on Butler Road and Route 1 just north and south of the Falmouth intersection. Project completion date is September 2015.
Caroline County
Routine Maintenance Activities

Route 30 (Dawn Blvd.)– mowing
Route 658 (Jericho Road) – mowing

Route 607 (Guinea Station Road) – mowing
Route 627 (Mattaponi Trail) – mowing
Route 618 (Beverly Run Road) – mowing
Route 647 (Reedy Mill Road) – mowing
King George County
Route 218
(Update) Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.; tree trimming work continues on the eastbound side of Route 218 motorists should expect brief delays between Route 696 (Fairview Drive) and Route 1040 (Potomac Landing Drive).
Route 218 at Machodoc Creek
Construction is underway on the Machodoc Creek bridge replacement project. Traffic on the bridge has been reduced to one lane. Temporary traffic signals at each approach to the bridge control traffic crossing the bridge. The signals will remain in place through July 2015. Motorists can expect an additional 5-10 minutes to cross the bridge during peak travel times on weekday mornings and afternoons. In addition, a 10 foot lane width restriction for vehicles is in place.
