by | Jun 26, 2015 | News

The Community Foundation of the Rappahannock River Region is accepting applications from local nonprofits for their upcoming grant cycle. Grant awards will be made from the Duff McDuff Green, Jr. Fund, the Trust for Public Education, the Haven Make a Difference Fund and Youth in Philanthropy (YIP).

Duff McDuff Green, Jr. Fund
Grants from the Duff McDuff Green Jr. Fund must benefit youth, preservation projects or recreation programs. Up to $125,000 will be awarded to local nonprofits. Applications will be accepted July 24 to August 24, 2015.

Applications for all grants must be made online at www.CFRRR.org.

Trust for Public Education and Haven Make a Difference Fund
The foundation’s Trust for Public Education fund and the Haven Make a Difference Fund will both benefit local schools. Grants totaling at least $20,000 from the Trust for Public Education will be made to Spotsylvania schools. The Haven Make a Difference Fund will provide up to $14,000 in grants to benefit Fredericksburg City School teachers and students. Online applications will be accepted August 31 to September 28, 2015.

Youth in Philanthropy (YIP)
YIP will award $10,000 in total to area nonprofits that serve youth or involve youth in program delivery.

YIP is a program that The Community Foundation created almost 13 years ago to encourage high school student volunteerism and philanthropy. It engages area young people in decision-making about the distribution of grant dollars. The group consists of 40 area high school students who review the proposals from local nonprofits that address youth-based issues. The YIP members then make recommendations for funding to the foundation’s Board of Governor’s. Over the years, these young leaders have awarded well over $100,000 in grants.

YIP grant applications will be accepted online June 30 to August 8.
