Fourth of July 2015 in Fredericksburg

Fredericksburg will host its annual Heritage Festival on Saturday, July 4, 2015. The 600, 700 and 800 blocks of Sophia Street from Wolfe Street and George Street, the 100 block of Charlotte Street and the 100 block of Hanover Street will be closed to all traffic from 5 a.m. – 5 p.m.

7:45 a.m. – Heritage Festival Five-Mile Run
Packet pick-up opens at 6:30 a.m. at the Fredericksburg Visitor Center, 706 Caroline St.
Online registration is $25 through July 3. Onsite registration is $30.
The run begins in the 500 block of Caroline Street, then enters the Heritage Trail at Old Mill Park, exits the Canal Path at Washington Avenue and uses Mary Ball Street to access Kenmore Avenue, Wolfe to the finish area on Charlotte Street.

9:30 a.m. – Heritage Day Parade
The parade, hosted by the Children’s Museum of Richmond in Fredericksburg, begins at the VRE lot in the 400 block of Caroline Street then takes a left onto the 200 block of George, left onto 500 – 800 Princess Anne Street, and back to the VRE lot. Prizes will be awarded for the best patriotic decorated bicycle and the best patriotic dressed child. It’s a short parade, so don’t be late!

10 a.m. – 4 p.m. – Festival of the Streets
Crafts and food vendors, live music, classic car show, Dunk Your Favorite Local Celebrity, and children’s activities on the 600 through 800 blocks of Sophia Street from Wolfe to George Streets; and on the 100 block of Charlotte Street and the 100 Block of Hanover Street.

10 a.m. – 5 p.m. – Ferry Farm’s Let Freedom Ring
A day of activities at Ferry Farm, George Washington’s boyhood home. View the event schedule online.
Catch a free bus or trolley from the Heritage Festival in downtown Fredericksburg, or from the Eagles Lodge 21 Cool Springs Rd. Ferry Farm parking will be “Handicapped Only.”
$1 admission. Please no pets, coolers, or alcohol.

12 p.m. – Presentation of Colors and Welcome

4:30 p.m. – Pratt Park Opens for July 4th Festivities
John Lee Pratt Memorial Park at 120 River Rd. in Fredericksburg, will open at 4:30 p.m. Park gates will close at 8:45 p.m., or when the park reaches capacity.
Bring lawn chairs and picnic dinners. Food vendors will be available.
No alcoholic beverages. No sparklers, No grills. Dogs must be on leashes.
Entertainment will include:
Quantico Marine Corps Rock and Roll Band, 6 – 7 p.m.
The Riverside Center’s cast of “The Wedding Singer”, 7:30 – 8 p.m.
Quantico Marine Corps Band, 8 p.m. through the Fireworks

9:15 p.m. – Fireworks
View the fireworks from Pratt Park or Old Mill Park, 2410 Caroline St., Fredericksburg.
No alcoholic beverages. No sparklers, No grills. Dogs must be on leashes.
