Full Closures, Work Zones on I-95 in Fredericksburg Region

Multiple evening work zones will be active on Interstate 95 in the Fredericksburg area July 7 through 9, 2015. The Virginia Department of Transportation encourages motorists to use Route 1 to avoid delays, and to check 511Virginia for real-time information on lane closures and congestion before starting a trip.

Work has been scheduled weather permitting.

Full Lane Closures Early July 7

Interstate 95 southbound traffic at Fredericksburg will be stopped for two 15-minute periods early Tuesday morning, July 7, 2015, as workers move a crane across travel lanes at the site of the new Fall Hill Avenue overpass construction site.

Virginia State Police will slowly roll traffic on I-95 southbound to a stop just after midnight at the Fall Hill Avenue overpass, located between Exit 133/Falmouth and Exit 130/Route 3 at Fredericksburg. The traffic stop is estimated to last 15 minutes. Traffic will be released to proceed once the crane is in the median.

Shortly before 2 a.m. police will gradually stop traffic on I-95 southbound again for up to 15 minutes, allowing the crane to travel back to the interstate shoulder.

Monday, July 6
Southbound I-95, Exit 126 at Spotsylvania: Two southbound lanes closed 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. near mile marker 126 for milling and paving work.

Northbound I-95, Exit 133B/Warrenton: Exit ramp closure for several hours between 9 p.m. and 4:30 a.m. for the installation of overhead signs. The exit ramp to Exit 133A/Falmouth will remain open.

Southbound I-95, Exit 133A/Falmouth: Exit ramp closure for several hours between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. for the installation of overhead signs. The exit ramp to Exit 133B/Warrenton will remain open.

Tuesday, July 7
Southbound I-95, Exit 126 at Spotsylvania: Two southbound lanes closed 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. near mile marker 126 for milling and paving work.

Southbound I-95, Fall Hill Avenue overpass (just south of Safety Rest Area): One to two southbound lanes closed for several hours between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. for installation of new overhead signs.

Wednesday, July 8
Southbound I-95, Exit 126 at Spotsylvania: Two southbound lanes closed 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. near mile marker 126 for milling and paving work.

Southbound I-95, Route 3: One to two southbound lanes closed for several hours between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. for installation of overhead signs.

Westbound Route 3, Southbound I-95 Entrance Ramp: Entrance ramp closure for several hours between 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for installation of overhead signs.

Thursday, July 9
Southbound I-95, Exit 126 at Spotsylvania: Two southbound lanes closed 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. near mile marker 126 for milling and paving work.

Northbound I-95, Route 3: One to two northbound lanes closed for several hours between 9 p.m. and 4:30 a.m. for installation of overhead signs.

Eastbound Route 3, Northbound I-95 Entrance Ramp: Entrance ramp closure for several hours between 9 p.m. and 4:30 a.m. for installation of overhead signs.
