Fredericksburg Main Street Branding Survey Due July 13

Higashi Glaser Design, 524 Wolfe St., Fredericksburg, has been selected by Fredericksburg Virginia Main Street, Inc., to create the brand identity for Fredericksburg Main Street and Fredericksburg Downtown.

“As a longtime downtown small business and residents who share in Fredericksburg’s present and future potential, we’re very honored to have been selected for this branding endeavor,” Higashi Glaser Design said in an email. “This branding process will examine all aspects of the Fredericksburg experience, and will only be successful with the support of the community that it serves.”

The company has prepared a survey to begin the branding process. You must download a copy. Here are the instructions provided by Higashi Glaser Design:

“CLICK ON THE WORDS “To complete survey”. This will open another window, in center of tool bar, click on “download”. If you are unable to open in Adobe Acrobat Reader (download it free at https://acrobat.adobe.com/us/en/products/pdf-reader.html). Save and open the file. In the top right corner click “Fill & Sign”. This will open a Tool window on the right of the document that will allow you to input text and put a check in the question bubbles.”

Surveys may be emailed as attachments to [email protected] or mailed or hand delivered to Fredericksburg VA Main Street, Inc., 904 Princess Ann St., Suite 303, Fredericksburg, 22401. The deadline is July 13, 2015.

Who is Higashi Glaser Design?
Sandra Higashi and Byron Glaser are co-owners of Higashi Glaser Design, but you won’t find much about the company on the Web. That’s because their main business is Zolo, the original 55-piece, hand-carved, hand-painted wooden play-sculptures, which were introduced in1986 by The Museum of Modern Art, New York. The toys won the Accent on Design Best New Product Award at the New York International Giftshow.

The team moved to Fredericksburg in 1990, and has branded local groups including Empowerhouse.

Glaser said they don’t pursue projects, because projects come to them. But they decided to apply for the Fredericksburg Main Street gig.

“It’s the first time we’ve ever applied for a project, and we did it because of our commitment to Fredericksburg,” said Glaser, who raised his son here. “We live here, love it here and want to help.”
