The Croaker’s Spot is bringing its award-winning brand of soul food meets seafood to Fredericksburg. The restaurant has leased 1101 Sophia St., which features patio dining with a view of the Rappahannock River. The location was formerly Tru Luv’s.

The Richmond-based eatery was a 2011 Steve Harvey’s Hoodie Award winner for “Best Soul Food” . There’s also a location in Petersburg, Va.

The menu includes seafood chili, po boys, fish boats, salmon cakes, a Cajun fried chicken sandwich, breakfast items and much more.

The Yelp page for the Richmond location — four of five stars with 244 reviews — includes these comments:

“The food is PHENOMENAL!!!!!!!!!! Prepare for a wait, but it’s completely worth it!! The corn bread & mac & cheese is the best corn bread & mac & cheese I’ve ever tasted in life,” wrote Nicole S. on Yelp

“We went to this place and the food was so good and the price was great for what we received,” said Diadra B.

“This place is a soul food bonanza,” said Alex L.

Croaker’s Spot said it would soon be providing more information on Facebook about its Fredericksburg plans.
