It’s about to get Krazier at Dog Krazy, the popular all things dogs (and cats) store at 307 William St, in downtown Fredericksburg. But before you read about it, watch the video announcement included with this story. Go ahead. I’ll wait.
So now you know. Dog Krazy is opening a second location in a space large enough to host events for the many rescues in the Fredericksburg area.
“There are so many homeless dogs and cats that are waiting for their forever home,” said storeowner and certified pet nutritionist Nancy Guinn. “We’re advocates for animal rescue, but our current location is not set up to host adoption events. While we are able to raise funds to help animals in needs, we want to do more.”
Guinn has located a space in Spotsylvania, and has launched an Indiegogo campaign to help raise funds for renovations.
“Every day people come in and ask if we sell puppies,” Guinn said. “The term pet store is not one we are happy about. We want to be known as an Adopt Shop. Our second store will host events every weekend to introduce the dogs in foster homes and shelters that are waiting for their forever families. Daily, we want to have foster care dogs spend the day with us in the store, so that people can come in and meet them.”
Guinn will also operate her nonprofit out of the new location. The Fredericksburg Pet PanTree is named after Guinn’s German Shepherd, Triana AKA Tree. “Tree passed away in 2014, and we wanted to do something in her honor.” The Pet PanTree provides dog and cat food to people who have fallen on hard times and are having trouble feeding their pets. Applications are available in the store.
Dog Krazy is devoted to pet nutrition. They guarantee that none of the dog food or treats they carry are manufactured or sourced from China.
