Devon Allman is passing through Virginia, folks, in support of his latest chart topping and rockin’ blues album, “Ragged & Dirty”. From muddy, soul drippin’ blues riffs to all American rock ‘n’ roll – Allman brings it home.

After years touring extensively with blues infused projects Honeytribe and Royal Southern Brotherhood, Allman has been in full solo career mode — touring to support his album and producing artists along the way, including famed Australian blues singer/songwriter and guitarist Owen Campbell.

Allman is at The Tin Pan, 8982 Quioccasin Rd. in Richmond at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2015.

Then he’s in D.C. with BYOG at Gypsy Sally’s, 3401 K St. NW, at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 30.

Allman talks biz, dedication, art and “The Big Day”.

Electrified. What’s your soul fuel?
Music, life, love, books, museums, green tea.

How would you describe your musical journey? Five words.
Dedicated. Preserving. Artistic. Essential. Lifelong.

What’s The Allman Golden Rule? (There’s gotta be one in the legacy somewhere!)
MY rule is NEVER ever phone in a performance. Whether it’s 50 people or 20,000, play like it is your last show and like your ass is on fire.

What quote resonates with you most at this point in your journey?
“Half of success is never giving up.”

What physical art medium most inspires you? What medium would you say correlates with your solo album work – Turquoise and Ragged & Dirty.
Paintings. Particularly 18th century Euro, also Francis Bacon, Sprick, Matisse, Klein.

What is the most fulfilling part of touring to support your solo career?
Being able to be in control of my schedule and being able to play songs from all the different phases of my career in one evening.

What do you miss about your previous bands?
I miss the camaraderie from the other bands. We had some amazing times all over the globe.

How do you maintain your health on the road?
Not easy. Hit the gym when time allows. Hit Whole Foods when one is avail. Hydrate. Sleep 8 hours.

“Turquoise”, “Ragged & Dirty” – and about to cut your next solo album. What direction are you headed with this one? When is it out?
Late spring 2016. Wait and see. It will be my best yet. My deepest yet. And my most genre-bending.

The future Mrs. Allman did an amazing portrait of you, available on your website. How can we find out more about her? When is the big day?
She is an amazing artist and also a model. She does print work for various clothing companies. Her art company launches next spring. Big day is Oct. 2, 2016.

So, you love hot sauce? On what? Brisket?
I don’t eat animals. I like hot sauce on anything. Veggie burgers, eggs, pizza, etc.
