Wegman’s and Fredericksburg Parks & Recreation have teamed up to bring the Eat Well, Live Well Passport to Family Wellness program to the city.

Wegman’s began the program in 2005 as a way to jointly encourage local residents to get moving as a way to enjoy healthier, better lives and explore local nature trails. The result is a pocket-sized trail “passport” with maps, fitness tips, and prizes for trails hiked and recorded. The Fredericksburg Passport to Family Wellness is available online and at Wegman’s, 2281 Carl D Silver Pkwy.

Participants complete each trail in the guide, find the Wegman’s Passport to Family Wellness trail marker and use a pencil or crayon to make a rubbing of the marker in the designated spot in the guide. Complete the seven rubbings to receive a $2 produce coupon from Wegman’s. The first 500 people to reach this level will also receive a Fredericksburg Timeless water bottle. You can redeem your passport for these rewards at Dorothy Hart Community Center, 408 Canal St.

Participants will also be entered in a drawing for the annual grand prize of a $100 Wegman’s gift card and a free picnic shelter rental at Fredericksburg’s Old Mill Park.

Fredericksburg is the first city in Virginia to participate in Wegman’s Passport to Family Wellness.

The seven trails listed in Fredericksburg’s passport are:
– Canal Path
– Rappahannock River Heritage Trail
– Dixon Park Trails
– Alum Spring Park Trails
– Motts Run Reservoir
– Virginia Central Railway Trail
– Smith Run Trail
