Plants Map, a mobile friendly, social gardening website, was the top winner in the 2014 Made in FredVA business startup competition. Co-Founder and COO Bill Blevins pitched the business to a panel of four local entrepreneurs serving as judges. He won the $10,000 grand prize.
Annie Tremper won the People’s Choice award with Eternity Blooms, a business offering seed balls made of flower seeds, soil and ashes of loved ones, to create a beautiful planted tribute. She received a $500 prize.
Plants Map allows individuals and organizations to create a webpage for each of their plants, including photos, notes, growing information and links to favorite reference pages and videos. It’s not an app, so there’s nothing to download. Bill’s team members are wife Tracy Blevins, co-founder and CEO, Chris Muldrow, co-founder & CTO, and Nick Cadwallender, senior vice president for Strategic Partnerships.
