Fredericksburg’s fourth Startup Weekend is scheduled November 13 -15, 2015.

Startup Weekend Fredericksburg Veterans Edition is open to all, but organizers are encouraging participation by entrepreneurs with a startup idea focused on serving veterans or veterans themselves with a startup idea.

Registration is free for veterans, current active duty service members, retired military, prior service members, and/or their dependents. Register as veteran at the Eventbrite link.

Early-bird tickets cost $75, and are on sale through October 1. After that, tickets are $99. Tickets may be purchased on Eventbrite at Startup Weekend Fredericksburg Veterans Edition.

Startup Weekend Fredericksburg Veterans Edition is part of the Startup Weekend global network. Each 54-hour event is designed to provide experiential education for technical and non-technical entrepreneurs, using the lean startup methodology. The lean startup methodology focuses on limited upfront expenditure while the entrepreneur first determines the market interest in their product. It’s not “Can this product be built?” but “Should this product be built?”

Startup Weekend participants include those with an idea to pitch and those willing to share their expertise by participating on a team. This expertise can include anything — coding, marketing, accounting, public relations, graphic design, human resource management — any and all skills needed to launch and run a business.

All Startup Weekend events follow the same basic model: anyone is welcome to pitch their startup idea and receive feedback from their peers. Teams form around the top ideas, as determined by popular vote, and embark on a three-day frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation.

The weekend culminates with presentations in front of entrepreneurial leaders with another opportunity for critical feedback. Prizes are awarded for judges top pick and audience top pick.

“Whether you are looking for feedback on a idea, a co-founder, specific skill sets, or a team to help you execute, Startup Weekends are the perfect environment in which to test your idea and take the first steps towards launching your own startup,” said Andrew Curtis, lead organizer of Startup Weekend Veterans Edition.

Startup Weekend Fredericksburg – Veterans Edition will be held at the Germanna Community College Workforce and Technology Center, 10000 Germanna Point Dr., Fredericksburg.

The complete weekend schedule and sponsorship opportunities are listed on the website at http://www.up.co/communities/usa/fredericksburg/startup-weekend/3952.
