Traffic Hot Spots November 22 – 28

Traffic alerts November 22 – 28, 2015, for Fredericksburg, Stafford, Spotsylvania, King George and Caroline.

Fredericksburg
Under Construction: Fall Hill Avenue Widening and I-95 Overpass Replacement Project
Construction is underway on the Fall Hill Avenue widening and I-95 overpass replacement project. Motorists should expect lane closures and brief delays on Fall Hill Avenue between the Rappahannock Canal bridge and Carl D. Silver Parkway (Central Park). The project will be completed in January 2017.

Stafford County
Route 628 (Eskimo Hill Road)
(New) Beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 22, crews will inspect the Route 628 bridge over the CSX railroad located between Montague Loop and Brooke Road. Motorists will be restricted to one lane in the work zone. The inspection is expected to be complete by 4 p.m.

Route 633 (Arkendale Road)
(Update) No work will take place on Route 633 (Arkendale Road) this week. Work to remove soil beneath the road’s travel surface in preparation for asphalt repairs will resume Tuesday, Dec. 1.

Route 687 (Hope Road)
(Update) Tuesday – Wednesday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Motorists should expect lane closures and brief delays on Route 687 (Hope Road) between Route 1 and the end of state maintenance. Crews will be working along the shoulder. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.

Routine Maintenance Activities
(New) Monday – Tuesday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and Wednesday, 7 a.m. – noon. Crews will be performing routine maintenance that may cause brief travel delays at the following locations:
· Route 663 (Forbes Street) – tree trimming
· Route 652 (Truslow Road) – brush cutting
· Route 624 (Layhill Road) – shoulder work
· Route 627 (Enon Road) – brush cutting
· Route 624 (Leeland Road) – shoulder work

Under Construction: Route 17
Construction is underway to widen Route 17 from four to six lanes between McLane Drive and Stafford Lakes Parkway, a distance of nearly 2 miles. The work zone extends from just south of the I-95 interchange to Cardinal Forest Drive. Motorists should be alert to changes in traffic pattern and periodic overnight lane closures. This project will be completed by December 2016.

Spotsylvania County
Route 208 (Courthouse Road)
(New) Monday – Tuesday, 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. Motorists should be alert to construction crews and equipment working along the shoulder on Route 208 eastbound and westbound between the north end of the bridge over Lake Anna and Route 601 (Lawyers Road). Crews will be placing stone on the shoulder.

Route 1035 (Salem Drive)
(Update) Monday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Motorists should expect brief delays on Route 1035 (Salem Drive) between Route 635 (Lee Hill School Drive) and the cul-de-sac. Crews will be paving in this area. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.

Routine Maintenance Activities
(New) Monday – Tuesday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and Wednesday, 7 a.m. – noon. Crews will be performing routine maintenance that may cause brief travel delays at the following locations:
· Route 3 (Plank Road) – mowing
· Route 17 (Mills Drive) – shoulder work
· Route 208 (Courthouse Road) – brush cutting
· Route 617 (Hams Ford Road) – tree trimming
· Route 696 (Sullivan Road) – dust control
· Route 754 (Hayden Road) – dust control
· Route 724 (Wigglesworth Road) – dust control
· Route 702 (Curtis Lane) – dust control

Project Complete: Route 17/Benchmark Road/Crossroads Parkway
The new traffic signal is now activated on Route 17 at Benchmark Road and Crossroads Parkway, located just east of the CSX railroad tracks and west of Jim Morris Road. This project was in connection with the Virginia Railway Express train station and parking lot, which opened on Monday, Nov. 16. The project was administered by Spotsylvania County.

King George County
Route 218 (White Oak Road)
(Update) Monday – Wednesday, 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. Motorists should expect periodic lane closures and delays at various locations on eastbound and westbound Route 218 while crews continue installing guardrail. Flaggers will direct traffic in the work zone.

Caroline County
Route 301
(Update) Monday and Tuesday, 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Wednesday, 7 a.m. – noon. Motorists should expect periodic lane closures and delays on Route 301 from the Hanover/Caroline County line to Route 30. Crews will be paving in this area.

Route 30
(Update) Wednesday, 7 a.m. – noon. Crews will be paving on eastbound and westbound Route 30 from the North Anna Bridge to just west of Route 652 (Signboard Road). Motorists should expect lane closures and delays in the work zone.

Routine Maintenance Activities
(New) Monday – Tuesday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and Wednesday, 7 a.m. – noon. Crews will be performing routine maintenance that may cause brief travel delays at the following locations:
· Route 647 (Shumsville Road) – pipe cleaning
· Route 654 (Kidds Fork Road) – pipe cleaning
· Route 652 (Cool Water Drive) – brush cutting
· Route 601 (Golansville Road) – brush cutting
· Route 622 (Durrett Road) – dust control

Construction: Route 648 (Sunshine Road) Bridge Replacement
Route 648 (Sunshine Road) in Caroline County is closed to through traffic. Crews are replacing a bridge approximately 1.1 miles from Route 647. Motorists should follow posted detour signs.
