New Fredericksburg Downtown Gift Cards Introduced

by | Dec 15, 2015 | News

Fredericksburg Main Street is introducing a new gift card program effective Thursday, Dec. 17, 2015.

New cards in $5, $10 and $20 denominations will be available at the Fredericksburg Visitor Center, 706 Caroline St.,and LibertyTown Arts Workshop, 916 Liberty St. The cards feature the “Eat, Shop and Be Local” design.

As of Wednesday, Dec. 16, those who have a balance on their old gift card can bring it to the Fredericksburg Visitor Center or LibertyTown to cash it out. They can also use the card at participating businesses, which will verify the amount still on the card. Once the card is used, it must be turned over to the business.

“The change in program is being driven by the change generated by our old vendor,” said Ann Glave, executive director of Fredericksburg Main Street. “They are deactivating the cards on December 16, since they are switching lenders. With this major inconvenience to Main Street and our gift card holders, Main Street has decided to close our account with giftcards.com.”

Main Street will exchange all outstanding balances on the old gift cards with a new gift cards or by a check. “Bring your card to the Visitor Center and LibertyTown Arts Workshop for the exchange starting on December 16,” Glave said.
