Virginia State Police Report “Plague” of Crashes, Disabled Vehicles

Crashes and disabled vehicles continue to plague Virginia’s highways across the Commonwealth Friday.

From midnight Friday (Jan. 22) through 2 p.m. Friday (Jan. 22), Virginia State Police dispatch centers have fielded 1,135 calls for service, with 380 of those for traffic crashes and 340 for disabled vehicles. There are no reported traffic fatalities at this time. The majority of the crashes have involved damage to vehicles only.

As of 3 p.m. Friday, Virginia Troopers are currently on scene of 118 crashes and 28 disabled vehicles statewide.

Disabled Vehicles=101

Division V-Chesapeake (Hampton Roads/Tidewater/Eastern Shore/Williamsburg/Franklin/Emporia)
Traffic Crashes=91
Disabled Vehicles=29

Division VI-Salem (Lexington/Clifton Forge/Roanoke/Blacksburg/Bedford/Martinsville/Danville)
Traffic Crashes=42
Disabled Vehicles=51

Division VII-Fairfax (Prince William/Loudoun/Arlington/Alexandria/Fairfax)
Traffic Crashes=12
Disabled Vehicles=55

State police are still stressing to Virginians not to travel unless absolutely necessary.
