Local Numbers for Super Tuesday in Virginia

Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump were the winners of Virginia’s Super Tuesday Primary on March 1, 2016.

2557 precincts of 2557 (100.00%) reporting, via the Virginia State Board of Elections
Hillary Clinton – 503,359 votes, 64.30%
Bernie Sanders – 275,428 votes, 35.18%

Donald Trump – 355,912 votes, 34.82%
Marco Rubio – 326,904 votes, 31.98%
Ted Cruz – 170,777 votes, 16.71%
John Kasich – 96,472 votes, 9.44%
Ben Carson – 60,088 votes, 5.88%

Several candidates dropped out of the race after the ballots had been printed. Martin O’Malley, Jeb Bush, Rand Paul, Mike Huckabee, Chris Christie, Carly Fiorina, Jim Gilmore, Rick Santorum and Lindsey Graham all received votes, even though they were no longer in the race.

For example, 59 people in Fredericksburg voted for candidates who were no longer running; 15 in the Democratic primary and 44 in the Republican primary.

Here’s how the votes went by locale, according to the Virginia Public Access Project (VPAP). (All precincts reporting.)

In the Democratic Primary:
City of Fredericksburg
Hillary Clinton – 1,396 votes, 52.70%
Bernie Sanders – 1,238 votes, 46.73%
Martin O’Malley – 15 votes, 0.57%

Spotsylvania County
Hillary Clinton – 5,399 votes, 60.37%
Bernie Sanders – 3,480 votes, 38.91%
Martin O’Malley – 64 votes, 0.72%

Stafford County
Hillary Clinton – 6,437 votes, 60.34%
Bernie Sanders – 4,140 votes, 38.81%
Martin O’Malley – 90 votes, 0.84%

In the Republican Primary:
City of Fredericksburg
Marco Rubio – 744 votes, 32.70%
Donald Trump – 708 votes, 31.12%
John Kasich – 343 votes, 15.08%
Ted Cruz – 303 votes, 13.32%
Ben Carson- 133 votes, 5.85%
Jeb Bush – 14 votes, 0.62%
Rand Paul – 11 votes, 0.48%
Mike Huckabee – 7 votes, 0.31%
Carly Fiorina – 4 votes, 0.18%
