Second Fredericksburg Mayoral Debate Scheduled for April 20

by | Mar 20, 2016 | Government

Incumbent Fredericksburg Mayor Mary Katherine Greenlaw and challenger Richard Dynes will participate in a debate at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2016, in City Council chambers at City Hall, 715 Princess Anne St.

This debate follows a 6 p.m. April 18 mayoral candidate forum, sponsored by FredXchange at The Foundry, 2324 Plank Rd. in Fredericksburg.

On April 20, Greenlaw and Dynes will each present a two-minute opening statement, followed by questions from two panelists. A moderator will present questions submitted in advance by the audience.

Greenlaw held an at-large seat on Fredericksburg City Council from 2008 – 12, before being elected mayor.

Dynes is vice chairman of Fredericksburg’s Planning Commission.

The April 20 debate is sponsored by the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce, The Free Lance–Star, News Talk 1230/WFVA, the University of Mary Washington Legislative Action Committee, UMW College Republicans, and UMW Young Democrats.

The city’s May 3, 2016, council election is for mayor, and for the two at-large council seats currently held by Kerry Devine and Matt Kelly. Devine and Kelly are running unopposed for reelection.
