Trial Date Set in Grace Mann Homicide Case

Steven Vander Briel was back in Fredericksburg Circuit Court on December 17, 2015. His defense team announced they’ve submitted an order to introduce an insanity defense. Commonwealth Attorney La Bravia Jenkins said the prosecution team had not yet received the order.

The trail by jury date was set for May 2 – 4, 2016.

Briel, 31, is accused of killing University of Mary Washington student Grace Mann, 20, on Friday, April 17, 2015, in the Fredericksburg home she shared with him and two other roommates. He faces charges of first-degree murder, abduction and strangulation. He pleaded not guilty on all three matters.
