Patriot Park Concert Series
Three Friday evenings in May

May 13 – Silver Wings – Motown, classic and Southern rock
May 20 – Patsy & the Country Classics – classic country
May 27 – Acoustic Onion (Beatles Tribute Band)
Gates open at 6 p.m., concerts at 7. Relax on the lawn. Concerts rain or shine.
Adults — $5, children 12 and under — $2
Bring chairs or blankets, concessions available, no alcohol.

Marine Corps Historic Half and Semper 5ive Weekend
Historic Half Weekend begins at the Healthy Lifestyle Expo,
Friday, May 13, 4 – 8 p.m. and Saturday, May 14, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Fredericksburg Expo & Conference Center, 2371 Carl D. Silver Pkwy., Fredericksburg
Visit 60+ booths featuring apparel, exercise, food, health and military appreciation.
Races are on Sunday, May 15, 7 – 11 a.m.
Runners on the 13.1 mile course start in Central Park. The new five-mile distance run, which replaces the 5K and 10K, begins in the Fall Hill neighborhood. Both runs wind through historic Fredericksburg downtown streets.

4th Annual Living in the Garden Symposium
Saturday, May 14, 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
University of Mary Washington Lee Hall, 1301 College Ave., Fredericksburg.
Join the Master Gardener Association of the Central Rappahannock Area for their 4th Annual Living in the Garden Symposium. Topics include The Joy of Gardening, Renovating Mature and Frequently Neglected Gardens, and Plant Growth. The day includes a walking tour of the trees and shrubs on UMW’s campus.
Registration ($40 – $50) includes a box lunch. May 9 is the registration deadline.

Eagles, Beetles, and Wild Edibles
Saturday, May 14, 9:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Friends of the Rappahannock Headquarters, 3219 Fall Hill Ave., Fredericksburg, Va. 22401
Joella and Michael Killian of the University of Mary Washington’s Department of Biological Sciences on Saturday lead this nature walk on FOR’s trails and canal path. Explore birds, plants, insects, and natural edibles along the Rappahannock River.
All ages welcome. $5 for individuals, $10 for families. Rain date is Sunday, May 15.

Join Mike Westermeier, Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania County Battlefields Memorial National Military Park historian, on this 5.7 mile hike exploring the Spotsylvania History Trail.

Central Rappahannock Regional Library hosts their second annual comic book convention at the England Run branch. The funs includes films, costume contest, crafts, gaming, a photo booth, balloon creatures and free comics

Fifth Annual Our Community Salutes
Saturday, May 14, 2:30 – 4:30 p.m.
University of Mary Washington Dodd Auditorium, 1301 College Ave., Fredericksburg.
Our Community Salutes of Fredericksburg, VA, is a non-profit, all volunteer organization with one purpose — to recognize, thank, and honor graduating seniors who are enlisting in the Armed Forces. The U.S. Representative Rob Wittman (VA-1) is the keynote speaker.

Fredericksburg Festival for the Performing Arts’ 29th Annual Chamber Music Festival
Tuesday, May 17, Thursday, May 19, and Friday, May 20, at 7 p.m.
Trinity Episcopal Church, 825 College Ave., Fredericksburg.
Chamber music, including performances by Young Artist Competition winners.
Tickets for each concert are $25 for adults, $20 for those aged 65+, free for students.
