Construction work is nearing completion at the intersection of Route 1 and Route 606 (Mudd Tavern Road/Morris Road) in Spotsylvania County, and final pavement marking will be underway the weekend of May 14 and 15, 2016.
Between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, motorists can expect single lane closures on Route 1 north and south of the intersection at Mudd Tavern Road and Morris Road. Law enforcement officials will be present to assist with traffic control.
Construction is scheduled to be completed the week of May 16 – 20, weather permitting.
Left turn lanes were built on Route 1 north and south of the intersection as a safety enhancement, and right turn lanes on Route 1 were extended to meet current design standards.
Raised concrete medians were added to separate northbound and southbound traffic. Access to South Roxbury Mill Road from Route 1 was relocated farther north of the intersection.
