Fredericksburg Region Traffic Alerts Aug. 28 – Sept 3

Traffic alerts in Fredericksburg, Stafford, Spotsylvania, Caroline and King George for the week of August 28 – September 3, 2016.

Bridge Washing
(New) Bridge washing will be take place at the following locations this week. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures and brief delays during daylight hours in the work zone:

Spotsylvania
Route 711 – bridge over Massaponax Creek (Sunday)

Stafford
Route 17 Nortbound/Southbound – bridge over Deep Run (Sunday)
Route 1 – bridge over Rappahannock River (Monday)
Route 1 – bridge over Chipawamsic Creek (Monday)
Route 1 – bridge over Potomac Run (Monday)
Route 608 – bridge over Potomac Creek (Tuesday)
Route 627 – bridge over Potomac Creek (Tuesday)
Route 651 – bridge over Potomac Creek (Tuesday)
Route 3 – bridge over the Rapphannock River (Wednesday)
Route 3 – bridge over Route 3 eastbound ramp (Wednesday)

Traffic Signal Maintenance
(New) Thursday, 7 p.m. – 2 a.m. Traffic signal technicians will be performing routine maintenance at various intersections on Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) in Stafford County and at various intersections on Route 620 (Harrison Road), Route 208 (Courthouse Road), Route 627 (Gordon Road) and Route 639 (Leavells Road) in Spotsylvania County. Traffic signals at these intersections may be out of service for not more than 10 minutes. Virginia State Police will provide traffic control at the intersection when the traffic signal is out of service.

Stafford County
Route 17
Three through travel lanes are now open on Route 17 northbound and southbound between McLane Drive and Stafford Lakes Parkway. Construction activities associated with the final phase of the Route 17 widening project will continue this week with minimal impact to traffic.

Route 610 (Garrisonville Road)
Monday – Thursday, 8 p.m. – 5 a.m. One lane will be closed intermittently on Route 610 eastbound and westbound at Onville Road. Motorists may periodically encounter brief delays during the overnight hours in this work zone. Crews are placing sewer lines in connection with the Route 610/Onville Road intersection improvement project.

City of Fredericksburg
Interstate 95
(Update) This week motorists can expect delays on Interstate 95 northbound and southbound at mile marker 131 located near Fredericksburg On Aug. 28 and Aug. 29 crews will lift concrete beams into place at the site of a new Fall Hill Avenue overpass located between I-95 Exit 130/Route 3 at Fredericksburg and Exit 133/Route 17 in Stafford County. Virginia State Police will be assisting with traffic control in the work zone.
The following lane closure schedule is planned:

I-95 Northbound (Sunday, Aug. 28)
· Single lane closure at 10 p.m.
· Double lane closure at 10:30 p.m.
· All lanes re-open to traffic by 4:30 a.m.

I-95 northbound (Monday, Aug. 29)
· Single lane closure at 9 p.m.
· Double lane closure at 9:30 p.m.
· All lanes re-open to traffic by 4:30 a.m.

Route 1
(New) Sunday, 10 p.m. – 6 a.m. and Monday − Thursday, 6 p.m. – 6 a.m. One lane will be closed on Route 1 southbound between the Rappahannock Canal and Alvey Drive for storm sewer and waterline installation. Motorists should expect brief delays in the work zone.

Fall Hill Avenue
(New) On Monday morning traffic on Fall Hill Avenue will be shifted to new pavement between the canal and Crestview Apartments. Flaggers will direct traffic during the transition to the new pavement. Motorists should be alert to the new traffic pattern in the work zone.

Fall Hill Avenue
Monday − Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on Fall Hill Avenue between Carl D. Silver Parkway and the Rappahannock Canal for construction activity. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.

Mary Washington Boulevard
Monday − Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on Mary Washington Boulevard between Hospital Drive and Sam Perry Boulevard for construction activity. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.

Spotsylvania County
Route 613 (Brock Road)
(Update) Tuesday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Crews will be paving and line striping on Brock Road from Courthouse Road to Old Robert E. Lee Drive. Motorists will be restricted to one lane in the work zone.

Route 627 (Gordon Road)
(Update) Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Paving and line striping will continue on Route 627 (Gordon Road) from Route 613 (Brock Road) to just north of Route 674 (Chancellor Road). Motorists will be restricted to one lane in the work zone.

Spotsylvania Avenue at Mine Road
Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Motorists should be alert to construction crews and equipment in the vicinity of the Spotsylvania Avenue/Mine Road intersection as crews begin work to improve the existing intersection. Expect brief delays.

Route 620 (Harrison Road)
On Monday access to several roads will change near the intersection of Route 1 and Harrison Road in Spotsylvania County. The following changes are in connection with the Route 1/Harrison Road Intersection Improvement Project:
– Wallace Lane: On Monday Wallace Lane will be closed to traffic at the intersection with Loren Drive, which is the service road running parallel to Route 1.

– Loren Drive: On Monday Loren Drive will be closed south of Harrison Road between the intersection and Fleming Street. Traffic seeking to access Loren Drive south of Harrison Road should use the entrance at Route 1 and Fleming Street.

You are reminded that the new connector road between Wallace Lane and Harrison Road is now open. This connector road will allow traffic on Harrison Road to access businesses and destinations along Wallace Lane.

In addition, motorists should expect intermittent flagging and single lane closures on Route 620 (Harrison Road) Monday − Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Motorists may periodically encounter brief delays in the overnight hours in this work zone. This work is in connection with the Route 1 and Harrison Road intersection improvement project.

Route 628 (Smith Station Road)
(Update) This week crews will install traffic signal loop detectors at the intersection of Route 628 and Route 208. A single lane closure will be in place on the following nights:
· Wednesday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Single lane closure on Route 208 northbound
· Thursday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Single lane closures on Route 208 southbound

In addition, motorists should expect lane closures, delays and traffic pattern changes on Route 628 southbound between the CVS entrance and Courtland High School, Monday − Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Flaggers will direct traffic in the work zone. This work is in connection with the Route 628 (Smith Station Road) turn lanes and signal modification project.

Caroline County
Route 17
(New) Monday – Tuesday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Crews will continue trench work on Route 17 northbound and southbound from just north of Route 301 to just south of Route 675 (Hazelwood Lane). Motorists should expect alternating lane closures in the work zone.

King George County
(New) Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Crews will be milling and patching on Route 610 northbound at Route 1230 (Sherwood Forest Drive). Motorists should expect brief delays and a rough driving surface in the work zone.
