Fredericksburg Region Traffic Alerts September 4 – 10

Traffic alerts in Fredericksburg, Stafford, Spotsylvania, Caroline and King George for the week of September 4 – 10, 2016.

City of Fredericksburg
Fall Hill Avenue
Tuesday, noon − 3 p.m., Wednesday − Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on Fall Hill Avenue between Carl D. Silver Parkway and the Rappahannock Canal for construction activity. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.

Mary Washington Boulevard
Tuesday, noon − 3 p.m., Wednesday − Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on Mary Washington Boulevard between Hospital Drive and Sam Perry Boulevard for construction activity. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.

Princess Anne Street
Thursday – Friday, 9 a.m. − 3 p.m. Paving work will begin on Princess Anne Street between Route 1 and Fauquier Street. Single lane closures. Project will be underway through mid-October. Work will begin near Fauquier Street and proceed north in future weeks. Additional work may occur outside the travel lanes on weekdays 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Stafford County
Interstate 95 at Exit 133/Route 17
Thursday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Pavement core samples will be taken along Interstate 95 shoulders near Exit 133/Route 17, as well at several locations on I-95 ramps at Exit 133, and along Route 17 northbound and southbound near the interstate. Motorists should be alert for work crews and follow traffic control where brief lane closures are needed. Samples are being taken as part of the I-95 Rappahannock River Crossing project.

Route 17
Tuesday – Thursday, 9 p.m. – 5:30 a.m. Mobile, single lane closures on Route 17 northbound and southbound and at intersection with Sanford Drive and South Gateway Drive for line striping.

Route 610 (Garrisonville Road)
Tuesday – Thursday, 8 p.m. – 5 a.m. One lane will be closed intermittently on Route 610 eastbound and westbound at Onville Road. Motorists may encounter brief delays overnight in this work zone. Crews are placing sewer lines for the Route 610/Onville Road intersection improvement project.

Routine Maintenance
Tuesday, noon – 3:30 p.m. and Wednesday − Friday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will perform routine maintenance activities at the following locations:
Route 1 (Jefferson Davis Highway) – ditching, mowing
Route 17 (Warrenton Road) – mowing
Route 604 (Belle Plains Road) – shoulder work
Route 605 (New Hope Church Road) – machine roadway
Route 606 (Ferry Road) – mowing
Route 607 (River Road) – brush cutting
Route 608 (Brooke Road) – potholes
Route 631 (Coal Landing Road) – ditching
· Route 644 (Rock Hill Church Road) – mowing
· Route 643 (Joshua Road) – mowing
· Route 648 (Stefaniga Road) – mowing
Route 655 (Holly Corner Road) – shoulder work
Route 1490 (Rocky Run Road) – brush cutting
Route 1552 (Kelly Way) – ditching

Spotsylvania County
Route 3 and Route 620 (Harrison Road)
Wednesday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Pavement patching at the intersection. Motorists should be alert for a right turn lane and single lane closure on Route 3 eastbound approaching Harrison Road. Northbound Harrison Road will be closed between Route 3 and the Rappahannock Goodwill Industries store. The access road from Harrison Road to the Park & Ride lot will remain open.

Route 613 (Brock Road)
Thursday– Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Crews will be paving and line striping on Brock Road from Courthouse Road to Old Robert E. Lee Drive. Motorists will be restricted to one lane in the work zone.

Route 627 (Gordon Road)
Wednesday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Line striping will continue on Route 627 (Gordon Road) from Route 613 (Brock Road) to just north of Route 674 (Chancellor Road). Motorists will be restricted to one lane in the work zone.

Route 620 (Harrison Road)
Tuesday, noon – 3 p.m., Wednesday − Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Motorists may encounter intermittent flagging and single lane closures on Route 620 (Harrison Road) in connection with the Route 1 and Harrison Road intersection improvement project.

Route 628 (Smith Station Road)
Tuesday – Wednesday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. and Thursday, 8:30 a.m. − 2 p.m. Milling and paving will be underway overnight on Smith Station Road. Single lane closures will be in place. Flaggers will direct traffic through the work zone. Line striping will be underway on Thursday during daytime hours. This work is part of the Smith Station Road turn lanes and signal modification project.

Spotsylvania Avenue at Mine Road
Tuesday, noon – 3 p.m. and Wednesday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Periodic right lane closures at the intersection for the installation of signal pole foundations.

Spotsylvania Parkway at Latitude Street
A new traffic signal will be activated at the intersection of Spotsylvania Parkway and Latitude Street on Tuesday morning. The signal will be placed in flash mode Tuesday, and will go into full color operation at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. The new traffic signal is located on Spotsylvania Parkway halfway between Route 1 and the Interstate 95 overpass near Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center.

Routine Maintenance
Tuesday, noon – 3:30 p.m. and Wednesday − Friday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will perform routine maintenance activities in the following locations:
· Route 601 (Lawyers Road) – mowing
Route 603 (Arcadia Road) – ditching
· Route 613 (Brock Road) – mowing
· Route 621 (Orange Plank Road) – mowing
Route 622 (Fairview Road) – ditching
· Route 643 (Haleys Mill Road) – road preparation for rural rustic project
· Route 680 (Granite Springs Road) – mowing
· Route 719 (Days Bridge Road) – mowing

Caroline County
Route 17
Wednesday − Saturday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Crews will mill pavement and perform temporary line striping on Route 17 northbound and southbound from just north of Route 301 to just south of Route 675 (Hazelwood Lane). Motorists should expect alternating lane closures in the work zone.

Routine Maintenance
Tuesday, noon – 3:30 p.m. and Wednesday − Friday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will be performing routine maintenance activities in the following locations:
Route 609 (Rozell Road) – mowing
Route 618 (Beverly Run Road) – mowing
Route 626 (Woodford Road) – mowing
Route 651 (Old Dawn Road) − mowing
Route 665 (Dodge City Road) – mowing

King George County
Route 610 (Indiantown Road)
Thursday – Saturday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Crews will be paving and line striping on Route 610 northbound at Route 1230 (Sherwood Forest Drive). Motorists should expect brief delays and a rough driving surface in the work zone.

Bridge Washing
Bridge washing will take place Tuesday − Thursday on the following roads this week. Motorists should expect intermittent single lane closures and brief delays during daytime hours for these mobile work zones. No work will be performed prior to noon Tuesday. Each bridge takes approximately 2 hours to wash.
