Christa Huntley’s business 10By10 placed first of eight teams at Startup Weekend 3, held September 26 – 28 at Germanna Community College.

“My goal is to eliminate the pain points and make event planning easier for both the vendor and host,” Huntley said. 10By10 — the average booth size at trade shows — is a website that enables businesses to set-up a “Growfile,” custom profile that matches exhibitor with events that will provide the best return on investment.

10By10 also allows both parties — event host and vendor/exhibitor — to rate their experience, with the goal of receiving a perfect 10. “This provides incentive for both parties to put effort into making the event great,” Huntley said.

The site is free to vendors and for hosts to post their events.  10by10 charges the event host a percentage fee for each vendor registrant.

Startup Weekend, a nonprofit based in Seattle, is leading a global network of events providing entrepreneurs the opportunity to launch a business in one weekend.  Beginning Friday evening, participants pitch an idea for a business, then work with a team over the weekend to brainstorm, develop a business plan and create a basic prototype.  On Sunday night, each team presents to a panel of judges, who determine the winner.

The judges for Startup Weekend Fredericksburg 3 were:

Jane Barratt, CEO and founder at Invest with Vi
DJ Bruggemann, manager for business development at Social Tables
Anthony Fung, Deputy Secretary of Technology for the Commonwealth of Virginia
Brandon Gadoci, director of sales and research for Disruption Corporation and a principal in Crystal Tech Fund
Joe Queenan, managing partner at Ardago Partners
Scott Ukrop, director of business development, Fahrenheit Group
