The City of Fredericksburg is accepting applications for Business Development Manager in the Department of Economic Development and Tourism. The position was held by Bill Freehling, prior to his being named director of the department.
The starting salary range is $64,675 to $77,610.

“Under the general administrative supervision of the Director of Economic Development and Tourism, this professional position provides economic development services within the City of Fredericksburg by developing and implementing strategies for recruiting businesses. Work involves assisting the director with establishing economic development goals and strategic plans, such as those delineated in the City’s economic development plan and Comprehensive Plan; developing and implementing marketing, advertising and public relations programs; seeking and attracting companies that will move to/expand within the City; and advising the City Council on the establishment of policies, procedures and practices that will promote and support economic development.
“Successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Public Administration, Urban Planning or a related field, with core courses in economic development; supplemented by 5 to 7 years of progressive experience in economic development, community relations, commercial real estate, real estate development, downtown revitalization, site selection or a related field; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Background check required, to include criminal history check.
