The Mystery of Edwin Drood

Charles Dickens was still writing his final novel when he died in 1870. Rupert Holmes’ Tony Award-winning musical aims to finish it with the help of the audience—resulting in a different ending every night. Performed by UMW Department of Theatre and Dance students.

Caledon Art and Wine Festival
Sunday, Nov. 6, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Caledon State Park, 11617 Caledon Rd., King George, VA 22485
Get a jump on holiday shopping. Taste wine from local wineries. A commemorative wine glass is included with the price of tasting. Great food will also be for sale. The picnic shelter, gift shop and visitor center will be open, and hay wagon rides will be available for the kids. Admission for wine-tasting is $15 per person (21 and older – everyone must have ID to taste). The festival is free for non-tasting guests, but a $5/vehicle parking fee applies to all.

Fredericksburg Grizzlies

The Grizzlies, Fredericksburg’s new American Basketball Association (ABA) team, plays their first home game.

Sixth Annual Electroacoustic Barn Dance
November 10 – 12
University of Mary Washington, Fredericksburg campus
A three-day festival of electronic music and art, this year featuring percussionist Tony Steve, percussionist Adam Vidiksis, pianist Theresa Steward, and violinist Margaret Jones.

Downtown Fredericksburg Holiday Open House

Open House Weekend is the official start of holiday shopping in Downtown Fredericksburg. Windows are decorated, holiday music is heard, good cheer and “ho ho ho” are in the air.
New this year: Free wrapping stations.

Family Holiday Decorations Workshop
Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. and 1 – 2:30 p.m.
Historic Kenmore, 1201 Washington Ave., Fredericksburg.
Holiday crafting for the whole family! Create a boxwood tree centerpiece in eighteenth century fashion, using greenery and natural elements found on the grounds of Historic Kenmore and George Washington’s Ferry Farm. Also, capture the season on canvas, painting your very own 3”x 3” miniature painting, complete with an easel.

Illuminate Light Show and Santa’s Village
November 18, 2016 – January 1, 2017
Nightly 5:30 – 10 p.m.
The Meadow Event Park is proud to present Illuminate Light Show & Santa’s Village. The light show consists of hundreds of thousands of LED lights synchronized to music from your car radio, and features an 80-foot tunnel of lights, 50-foot Christmas trees, dancing snowmen, singing trees and Santas and festive decorations.
$25 cars; $55 limos and mini buses; $100 full-sized bus

Burn off some of that Thanksgiving Dinner and avoid the stress of long shopping lines while enjoying the comforts of nature. Take a ranger led hike through the forest, followed by a relaxing hayride tour of the park.
$3 per person, or $8 per family. Spaces are limited, so make your reservations by calling the park, or stopping by the park office.
