Bring blankets and lawn chairs and Fredericksburg Parks and Rec for the movie “The Polar Express.” Vendors will be on site with snacks and hot beverages.

A 19th Century Christmas at Ellwood Manor
Saturday, Dec. 17, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Ellwood Manor, 36380 Constitution Highway (Route 20), Locust Grove, Va.
Friends of Wilderness Battlefield host their eighth annual Christmas at Ellwood Manor, with an open house, visits with Santa, refreshments, crafts, and music.
Free. Donations are always welcomed and appreciated.

The Holiday Project
Saturday, Dec. 17, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Share the holiday spirit with others who may have no one else to share with them. Join volunteers in making cards and gifts to be given to residents at local long-term care facilities, delivered on Christmas Day.

Germanna Volkssport Association Holiday Walk
Saturday, Dec. 17, start between 3 and 5 p.m.; finish by 8 p.m.

Experience the lights and sights of the holiday season as you walk downtown Fredericksburg. Stop at our cookie checkpoint to enjoy homemade cookies and hot drinks. Choose from 3-mile or 6-mile trails.
There is no fee to walk the trails. If desired, AVA/IVV Credit is $3. Donations welcome. Event may be cancelled in severe weather (call 540-786-6550; 540 809-6227).

Second Annual Stafford County Christmas Parade

The Living Nativity

Ignite the Night Village Laser Show

Illuminate Light Show and Santa’s Village

Meadow Event Park presents Illuminate Light Show & Santa’s Village. The light show consists of hundreds of thousands of LED lights synchronized to music from your car radio, and features an 80-foot tunnel of lights, 50-foot Christmas trees, dancing snowmen, singing trees and Santas and festive decorations.
$25 cars; $55 limos and mini buses; $100 full-sized bus

Dominion GardenFest of Lights: Living Color
Nov. 25, 2016, through January 9, 2017 — closed December 24 and 25.
Nightly 5 – 10 p.m.
Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, 1800 Lakeside Ave., Richmond, Va.
A holiday tradition featuring more than half-a-million twinkling lights, hand-crafted botanical decorations, model trains, holiday dinners, fire pit with s’mores and hot chocolate (for purchase), nightly family activities, and more.

Merry Trees at the Fredericksburg Area Museum and Cultural Center
December 1, 2016, through January 5, 2017, 12 – 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday; 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Sunday
Fredericksburg Area Museum and Cultural Center,
The museum is displaying 10 small Christmas trees with different children’s literature themes. Hugh Mercer Elementary school classes selected a book, read it in class, and created a theme for their class tree. Each student designed and created an ornament relating to their story, and the ornaments adorn their class’s tree. The trees will be available for free viewing during the museum’s regular hours.

Paul’s Bakery Christmas Lights Display
Friday, Dec. 2, and continues nightly through Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 6:30 – 9 p.m.
Paul’s Bakery parking lot, 2006 Lafayette Blvd., Fredericksburg, Va.
“My greatest passion has been to create one of the largest, home-made Christmas displays in the area,” Glancy said. He developed a “special way” of creating characters and objects with PVC, and brining them to life with lights.
Admission is free, but visitors are invited to bring a donation for Toys for Tots.

Gingerbread House Contest & Exhibit
December 4 – 30 (Closed December 24 and 25), Monday – Saturday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m;. Sundays 12 – 4 p.m.

Chancellor Volunteer Fire & Rescue Santa Runs
Chancellor Volunteer Fire & Rescue will be making Santa Runs through neighborhoods in the Chancellor area during December 2016, with help from members of Spotsylvania County Fire, Rescue, and Emergency Management. Click the link for the schedule.
