Rory Brosius, longtime deputy director of Joining Forces and policy advisor to First Lady Michelle Obama and Second Lady Dr. Jill Biden, has joined Fredericksburg-based ScoutComms.

Beginning March 1, 2017, Brosius will serve as a vice president, managing a portfolio of clients who serve veterans and military families.

Brosius spent the last four years overseeing day-to-day operations of Joining Forces, the nationwide initiative launched by Mrs. Obama and Dr. Biden in 2011. Joining Forces worked with the public and private sectors to support service members, veterans, and their families through wellness, education, and employment opportunities.

Brosius provided continuity across six executive directors, and directly served First Lady Michelle Obama and Second Lady Dr. Jill Biden at events around the world.

“I am thrilled that Rory has chosen ScoutComms as her next step after the White House,” said ScoutComms founder and CEO Fred Wellman. “I’ve witnessed firsthand her passion and incredible breadth of knowledge on veteran and military communities. As part of our team, I’m confident she’ll be able to continue to build on the relationships and initiatives she championed on behalf of our wide range of clients and partners.”

A military spouse, Brosius holds a master’s degree in social work from the University of Southern California.
