Anne McGrath Places First in Fredericksburg Center for the Creative Arts Photography Exhibit
Anne McGrath of Fredericksburg, Virginia, placed first in the Second Annual Fredericksburg Center for the Creative Arts (FCCA) all photography exhibit and competition. McGrath won for her photo “On the Shelf” (picture with this story). Second place went to David G. Boyd of Fredericksburg, for his photo to “Mushroom Forest.” Penny Parrish of Fredericksburg received third place for “Lone Runner.”

Kids’ Station Learning Center, on the Mary Washington Hospital campus, has received accreditation from the National Accreditation Commission for Early Care and Education Programs. The center serves the children of Mary Washington Healthcare associates.

Fredericksburg Food Cooperative to Hold Information Open House at Agora Downtown Coffee Shop
The Fredericksburg Food Cooperative will be at Agora Downtown Coffee Shop from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Saturday, March 4, providing information about the coop, and signing up members. Agora will donate 10 percent of its revenue from that day to the Fredericksburg Food Cooperative. Agora is located at 520 Caroline St.

Joy Crump Returns to the James Beard House for International Women’s Day
Chef Joy Crump of Fredericksburg’s FoodE, Mercantile and soon 6 Bears and a Goat is returning to the James Beard House on Wednesday, March 8, to cook for International Women’s Day. The Women First! Dinner will feature the cuisine of four leading women chefs — Crump, Karen Akunowicz, Stacy Cogswell and Caitlin Dysart. “The Women First! Dinner will raise a glass to the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women across the globe,” Crump said. She first cooked at the James Beard House in April 2016.

VIVA has achieved accreditation by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). Accreditation distinguishes this office-based surgery center for its high quality of care, as determined by an independent, external process of evaluation.

University of Mary Washington Ranked Among Top-Producing Colleges for Peace Corps Volunteers
The University of Mary Washington is among the nation’s top-producing colleges for alumni now serving as Peace Corps volunteers. The Peace Corps ranked UMW second among small schools or institutions. There are currently 13 UMW alumni volunteering with the Peace Corps, UMW said. UMW has been included in the top 20 top-producing small schools list since 2005.

University of Mary Washington Named Top Producer of U.S. Fulbright Scholars
The University of Mary Washington has been named one of the top producers of U.S. Fulbright scholars, according to The Chronicle of Higher Education.
