The Fredericksburg Food Co-op Offers April Membership Incentive
In honor of Earth Day, the Fredericksburg Food Co-op is offering a special incentive for new members. “All who join in April will be entered to win a $200 cash prize, essentially covering the cost of a new member’s one-time membership investment,” said co-op board member Rich Larochelle. Existing members who refer a new member who joins in April will also be entered into the drawing, which will take place in early May. Fredericksburg Livestock Exchange Reopens Under New Management
The Fredericksburg Livestock Exchange reopened March 28, 2017, under new ownership. The exchange is now holding evening auctions earlier in the week — Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. — to better serve clients, according to manager Rob Heyl. Poultry, horse, and farm equipment auctions will be held on the second Saturday of each month.

Virginia Beach Based Real Estate Firm Hired to Lease The Village at Spotsylvania Towne Centre
Divaris Real Estate, Inc., headquartered in Virginia Beach, has been hired as the commercial leasing agent for The Village at Spotsylvania Towne Centre. Sara Goodall, Ali Newton, and Pat Dudley of Divaris Real Estate’s Richmond office are handling the leases.

HHGregg Store’s Closing Nationally
About a month after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, appliance and electronics retailer hhgregg announced that it will close all 220 of its stores by the end of May 2017, affecting about 5,000 jobs across the U.S. The Fredericksburg store is located in Central Park at 1731 Carl D. Silver Pkwy.

Fredericksburg Academy Celebrates 25 Years
Delegate Mark Cole was at Fredericksburg Academy’s Donald and Susan Reed Theater recently, to present a copy of House Joint Resolution Number 825, commending the private school for “25 years of independent educational excellence.”

Strangeways Brewing Named One of the South’s Best
Richmond-based Strangeways Brewing, which will open its second location in Fredericksburg in 2017, was named one of the South’s best breweries by Southern Living Magazine. Strangeways new brewery at 350 Lansdowne Rd. will include a tasting room, event space, arcade, outdoor beer garden, and equipment to increase production capacity.
