A retirement ceremony for American and Virginia flags collected through the City of Fredericksburg’s participation in the Retire Your Old Glory program will be held on Saturday, June 10 at 10:00am at the Fredericksburg-Rappahannock Chapter Izaak Walton League of America Park, located at 12400 Herndon Road, Spotsylvania (see below for driving directions.)

The ceremony, timed to coincide with the commemoration of Flag Day on June 14, will be conducted by the Fredericksburg-Rappahannock Chapter of the Izaak Walton League. Boy Scouts of America Troop 835 and other area Boy Scouts & Girl Scouts will also participate in the ceremony.

The flags to be respectfully retired during this ceremony are those collected at bins placed by the City of Fredericksburg at City Hall and the Dorothy Hart Community Center as well as those collected by the League, the Scouts and others. Over 300 flags will be retired during the ceremony.

All are invited to attend and participate in the ceremony, (with a special invitation to all active duty and retired US Armed Forces veterans.)
