Stafford County Public Schools On-Time Graduation Rate Increases

STAFFORD, VA – Stafford County Public Schools (SCPS) on-time graduation rate for the class of 2017 was 94.3% compared to 92.9% for the class of 2016. SCPS on-time graduation rate was 3.2% higher than the state. The dropout rate for the class of 2017 was 2.9% compared to 4.1% for the class of 2016. Of the 2,329 students who entered high school as first-time ninth graders in 2013:

  • 1,438, or 61.7 %, earned an Advanced Studies Diploma (including International Baccalaureate),
    compared with 59.9 % of the previous cohort.
  • 714, or 30.6 %, earned a Standard Diploma.
  • 38, or 1.6%, earned a Special Diploma.
  • No students earned a GED.
  • 68, or 2.9 %, dropped out.

“We are extremely proud of the class of 2017. We continue to see an increase in the number of students graduating within four years. More importantly, SCPS is committed to ensuring all students are prepared to be successful in further education and/or the workplace,” said Superintendent Dr. W. Bruce Benson.
