STAFFORD, VA – The United States Senate Productivity and Quality Award (SPQA) program bestowed significant awards on two organizations at its annual Forum for Excellence held at the University of Mary Washington’s Stafford Campus. This year’s award winners include the Prince William County Service Authority and the Federal Facilities Division.

Created in 1983, Prince William County Service Authority provides drinking water and reliable sanitary sewer service to more than 90,000 residential and commercial customers in Prince William County. The Authority has used the Baldrige Framework to establish sound and effective processes which have led to outstanding results in water quality, affordability, and operational readiness for its customers.

The Federal Facilities Division is the government entity that provides facilities management support to the Pentagon and other Department of Defense facilities. The Division has used the Baldrige Framework to create system and processes resulting in strong results in customer satisfaction and workforce engagement.

Leaders from both the Prince William Service Authority and the Federal Facilities Division were on hand to accept their awards and share with the audience some of their key learnings in using the Baldrige Framework to achieve great results.

SPQA awards the Commonwealth of Virginia and the District of Columbia’s highest award for performance excellence and recognizes organizations that have achieved outstanding results. Recipients of a SPQA award are focused on long-term process improvement, sustainability, efficiency, and excellence in leadership, strategy, customers, information management, workforce, and operations. SPQA was created to acknowledge and advance the competitive position and world-class status of organizations in Virginia and Washington, D.C., through training, assessment, and continuous improvement. It is the only award program in this two-state region based on the national Baldrige Framework for Performance Excellence. It also is affiliated with the National Baldrige Program administered by the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
