What is Universal Clipboard?
The Universal Clipboard option allows you to copy text, images, photos, and videos on one Apple device and then paste the digital material to another Apple device.
Once you copy content on one Apple device, any devices that are logged into the same Apple iCloud® account will have that content available immediately for pasting. This share function is useful in all facets of life.
The kitchen is one of the most popular places to use digital devices. If you are searching for recipes, you can copy a recipe then paste it into a grocery list set up within the Notes app on your iPhone® device.
- Step one is to copy the content. Select the content you want to copy on your Mac® computer, for example, by pressing Command+C or choose Edit > Copy.
- For a small window of time, the copied content will be available for pasting.
- Paste the content on another iOS device by positioning the pointer where you want to paste the content and then pasting it. For example, on your iPad® tablet, double tap, then choose Paste from the options.
It should be noted that according to Apple.com, “To use Universal Clipboard, your devices must meet Continuity system requirements. They must also have Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Handoff turned on in your System Preferences (on your Mac) and in Settings (on your iOS devices). You must be signed in to iCloud using the same Apple ID on all your devices.”
