From Fredericksburg Police:
Tuesday night at 6:57 p.m., a male was pushing a moped in the left-lane of northbound Route 1 when a vehicle struck him from behind. The driver of the vehicle was transitioning from the right-lane to the left-lane when the collision occurred. Bystanders performed CPR on the victim until police and rescue arrived at the accident. EMS transported the victim to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The investigation is ongoing and the Fredericksburg Police Department is performing the accident reconstruction.
The victim is James Thomas Parker, 66, of Fredericksburg.
The incident occurred in the 3300 block of Jefferson Davis Highway.
