by | Jul 11, 2020 | Non-Profits

The Community Relief Fund concluded its 12th and final round of rapid-response Immediate Relief grants to area nonprofits on June 30th.

“Our local nonprofits are demonstrating incredible resilience, ingenuity and tenacity. It’s an honor to play a part in these local solutions,” said Programs Manager, Ali Thomas.

Grants from the Community Relief Fund have helped local nonprofits deliver food and financial assistance to people in need, and helped them adapt and deliver their services safely during the pandemic.

This week, $25,000 was awarded to 5 organizations:

Central Rappahannock Regional Library
Online Access: provide free internet access for residents lacking a digital connection at home

Central Virginia Housing Coalition, Inc.
Emergency Financial Assistance

Fredericksburg Counseling Services, Inc.
Online Access: increase access to telehealth therapy services for clients

Fredericksburg Main Street, Inc.
Technology and Safety Grants for COVID-19 affected businesses

The Table at St. George’s
Emergency Food Distribution

Altogether, 69 grants totaling $448,375 have been awarded to 40 regional nonprofit organizations. A complete list of grantees is available atwww.cfrrr.org/coronavirus-response-grants/

The Community Foundation activated the Community Relief Fund in March when the potential impact of the coronavirus pandemic in our region became clear. Immediately individuals, families and businesses began to make donations to support nonprofit organizations. By June 30, gifts to the fund had surpassed $566,000.

The Community Foundation understands that the effects of the pandemic are far-reaching; that recovery is a marathon, not a sprint.

“Although the immediate relief grants phase of response is done, the Community Relief Fund remains active,” said Thomas. “Our next steps include consulting with our nonprofit partners about the evolving needs in our community and identifying the most efficient and effective ways to continue support. We will continue to offer strategic, impactful funding that supports long-term recovery efforts in our community.”

The Community Foundation urges everyone to continue supporting regional nonprofits through crisis response giving by making a donation to the Community Relief Fund or by giving to them directly.
