COVID-19 and the Hotel Tax analyzed in Stafford

As you can imagine our hotels saw a dramatic reduction in business due to COVID-19. Tax revenue dropped by as much as 75% in the month of April while the occupancy rate plunged to 32% and the average room rate dropped by $23.20.
The Transient Occupancy Tax is a tax on hotel guests which is collected by the hotel and remitted to the Commissioner’s office on the 20th of every month.
