Sunday night at 8:30, the Stafford Sheriff’s Office received a report of a missing endangered person. Deputies quickly began searching for the subject.
Deputy N.R. Stachurski located the subject’s vehicle parked at the Abel Lake boat ramp. Deputies began searching the immediate area and determined she had taken a trail into the woods. The drone team was mobilized and a bloodhound was requested from another agency.
Drone team members arrived on scene and deployed a drone above the area. A heat signature was registered and drone operators, Detective W.J. McWaters Jr. and Deputy R.T. Kulbeth, were able to direct Sgt. G.A. Haney and Deputy B.U. Demirci to the location. Sgt. Haney and Deputy Demirci located the subject safe and escorted her out of the woods.
