VDOT says brine is applied during dry conditions to give them a head start on keeping the roads clear from snow and ice. Thanks to Virginia State Police for assisting VDOT crews with traffic control. VDOT pre-treated on I-95 from mile marker 98 (Doswell) to mile marker 150 (Dumfries).
