From the Stafford Sheriff’s Office:

A motorcyclist faces a plethora of charges after an accident in North Stafford last week.

On June 3rd at 9:45 a.m. deputies responded to an accident in the area of U.S. 1 and Coachman Circle. The investigation revealed a Lexus SUV pulled off of Coachman Circle into the path of a northbound Yamaha motorcycle. The motorcyclist attempted to avoid the vehicle, but struck the left rear of the SUV and crashed.

The motorcyclist suffered significant injuries, but was extremely concerned about not going to jail. His anxiety was well placed after the contents of his backpack were known. The motorcyclist was identified as Austin Reeder, 22, of Fredericksburg. Reeder’s backpack contained a handgun and a suspected controlled substance. His license was revoked, the motorcycle was improperly registered and was not insured. Further complicating his legal
matters, Reeder was discovered to be a convicted felon.

Deputy S.M. Eastman obtained warrants for possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a controlled substance, concealed weapon and possession of a controlled substance with a weapon. Deputy R.T. Kulbeth handled the traffic side of the case and obtained warrants for driving revoked, no motorcycle endorsement, no registration and no insurance.

Deputies learned Reeder had been released from the hospital and Sergeant A.I. Assur coordinated with the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office to make the arrest in their jurisdiction on June 5th. Reeder was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond
