Stafford’s Economic Development Authority will host the Tour Stafford Junior All-Star tournament in partnership with the American Junior Golf Association in August at the Gauntlet Golf Club. It will be the first AJGA event held in collaboration with Tour Stafford VA.

Kicking off the week on Sunday, August 14th, Stafford and AJGA will host a fundraising tournament to benefit local charities and AJGA’s college grant program. Sunday’s fundraiser promises to make the tournament into a community-wide event. Businesses and individuals can participate in the fundraiser as sponsors, or by signing up as singles or teams of three to play a few rounds with the young athletes who will be the next generation of professional golfers.

“This is a great opportunity to play with college athletes and future young professional players,” says Lisa Logan, Stafford County’s Assistant Director of Economic Development and Tourism. “We’re excited that Stafford-area businesses and leaders have the opportunity to participate, network, and partner for this event.”

Sponsors of the fundraiser will enjoy meals, goodies, and games with a top AJGA junior. The tournament is billed as an opportunity for Stafford-area business owners and professionals to network amongst each other and the players, as well as to entertain clients and employees, all while doing good for the community.

Local volunteers will have the opportunity to help increase the tournament’s charitable output by providing logistical aid, such as recording group times and distributing water bottles to players, or by sponsoring staff meals.

“It’s going to be a lot of fun for the teams, sponsors, and volunteers. This is just another way for people to appreciate just how much Stafford County has to offer, and to bring economic impact to the community,” Logan says.

The 54-hole Junior All-Star competition is set to begin on Monday, August 15th and conclude on the 18th. The tournament will bring AJGA’s rising young golf stars from across the country to Stafford, VA. 78 golfers between ages 12 and 15 will meet at Stafford’s Gauntlet Golf Club to compete for entry into AJGA’s Open tournament series later this year.

Founded in 1978, the AJGA’s tournament series helps talented junior golfers develop into college and professional athletes. With an alumni list including names like Tiger Woods and Inbee Park, the AJGA promises a competitive tournament with golf’s most talented youth.
