Gayle Middle School student places in National Junior Beta Convention

Stafford County Public Schools (SCPS) is proud to announce that T. Benton Gayle Middle School student Rax Jumadiao placed in a competition at the National Beta Club’s 25th National Junior Beta Convention. Jumadiao placed 8th in the Math 8th Grade competition. He will receive a plaque from the National Beta Club in recognition of his achievement for placing in the top 10 in this competition.Jumadiao was one of only   Virginia students to individually place and theonly SCPS student at the National Junior Beta Convention this year. Virginia Clubs received a total of nine placements overall, six for individuals and three for teams.
The Club’s Sponsor Jeremy B. Utt, who was also Jumadiao’s 8th-Grade Honors Geometry teacher, said that Jumadiao is “an accomplished student and a leader. He is exceptionally capable in mathematics. Rax was a pleasure to teach in the classroom and towork with in the Junior Beta Club and the National Junior Honor Society.” Jumadiao is a charter member of Gayle Middle School’s Junior Beta Club, founded during the 2020-2021 school year. He competed in the Math 7th Grade competition in the 2021 Virginia State Convention and in the Math 8th Grade competition in the 2022 Virginia State Convention, receiving the Champion award for placing first in both competitions. He placed in the top three at the state level, which provided an opportunity to at the National Convention held in Nashville, TN.

In addition to being a member of the Gayle Middle School Junior Beta Club, Jumadiao was also a member of the National Junior Honor Society Chapter (NJHS). He served as the Vice President of the NJHS Chapter and was chosen as the NJHS Chapter’s Member of the Year. He also received the U.S. Department of Education President’s Award for Educational Excellence.
