From Fredericksburg City Police:

Please join us in congratulating Captain Mason on graduating last week as a member of the 285th session of the FBI National Academy. The graduation occurred at the National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. Captain Mason is the fourth officer in department history to complete this prestigious program. Nationally, less than one percent of officers have the opportunity to attend the program.
Captain Mason has an impressive law enforcement career and serves as Detective Division Captain. She joined the Department in 2012 after completing the first 7 ½ years of her career with the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office. She has held many ranks within the agency, including detective, Sergeant, and Lieutenant, and has been a licensed polygraph examiner since 2017. Captain Mason has Bachelor’s degrees in Criminal Justice and Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from George Mason University.
“Captain Mason exemplifies dedication to the law enforcement profession, compassion, and drive. Attending the National Academy was not only an incredible opportunity for her but an incredible opportunity for the Department. I am excited she’s back and look forward to watching her continue to lead her division in the right direction, “said Police Chief Layton.
Internationally known for its academic excellence, the National Academy offers ten weeks of advanced communication, leadership, and fitness training. Participants must have proven records as professionals within their agencies to attend. On average, these officers have 21 years of law enforcement experience and usually return to their agencies to serve in executive-level positions.
The 285th session consisted of two hundred and forty-seven law enforcement officers from 47 states and the District of Columbia. The class included members of law enforcement agencies from 28 countries, four military organizations, and five federal civilian organizations.”
