Caroline County Sheriff’s Office and Fire-Rescue work together to save lives

The Caroline County Sheriff’s Office increased the number of automated external defibrillators issued to deputies, thanks to a donation by Caroline County Fire Chief, Jason Loftus. An automated external defibrillator, or AED, is a medical device designed to analyze heart rhythm and deliver electric shock to persons suffering from certain irregular heart rhythms. The Caroline Sheriff’s Office currently owns nine AED’s, and all deputies are trained and certified to use them during emergency life-saving efforts.
With the addition of six AED’s donated by Chief Loftus, the CCSO will now have fifteen AED’s issued to patrol deputies. The CCSO has successfully saved lives using these devices and we are very grateful for the donation of these six additional units.
Sheriff Scott Moser said, “Deputies often encounter incidents that require life-saving measures, and the addition of these six AED’s enhances the CCSO’s ability to save lives. I am very thankful to Caroline County Fire/Rescue, and Chief Jason Loftus for the donation of these units and I feel confident that more lives will be saved in the future because of these additional lifesaving tools.”
